Nawabshah centers ordered to get blood from Muhammadi

Nawabshah (Handout) An important meeting regarding public health, prevention of HIV/AIDS, safe supply of blood, and effective monitoring of medical institutions was held at the Darbar Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Shaheed Benazirabad, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani.

While addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases is a top priority of the district administration. He emphasized that all concerned departments must work under a joint and coordinated strategy to achieve this objective. He directed that strict monitoring of all blood banks and medical centers operating in the district be ensured, and indiscriminate action be taken against unregistered and substandard institutions.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed officers of the Sindh Healthcare Commission and the Drug Inspector to further accelerate ongoing operations against non-compliant, non-SOP-compliant, and unregistered medical centers, laboratories, and quack doctors. He further directed the Drug Inspector to conduct joint inspections of medical stores along with Assistant Commissioners and take action against illegal and unlicensed medical centers and outlets.

Addressing representatives of private medical centers, the Deputy Commissioner instructed them to obtain blood exclusively from Muhammadi Blood Bank and ensure that medical waste generated by their facilities is disposed of through the incinerator at PMC Hospital, in order to prevent the spread of diseases.

The meeting decided to further strengthen the blood screening system and adopt modern diagnostic procedures for the detection of HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and other diseases. It was also agreed that, with mutual cooperation between the police and district administration, strict action would be taken against elements involved in illegal activities.

The meeting further resolved to launch public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the use of safe blood and preventive measures against HIV/AIDS.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Abrar Ali Shah, Medical Superintendent PMC Dr. Yar Ali Jamali, Deputy Director Sindh Healthcare Commission Shaheed Benazirabad Mansoor Ali Rind, Dr. Muhammad Sadiq Siyal, District Manager PPHI Zakir Hussain Samoon, Dr. Riyaz Shah, Dr. Ashfaq Mashori, Ghulam Nabi Channa, representatives of RBC, as well as owners of private medical centers and medical stores.
