KARACHI: Pakistan has launched a new feeder shipping service linking Karachi Port with Fujairah and Khorfakkan in the United Arab Emirates, a move aimed at strengthening the country’s access to global shipping networks.

Maritime Affairs Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the service, operated through Karachi Gateway Terminal (Private) Limited (KGTL), will provide a dedicated connection between Karachi and the UAE’s key trans-shipment hubs.

In a statement, the minister said the first feeder vessel arrived at the Karachi Gateway Terminal on March 11, marking the start of regular sailings between Karachi, Fujairah and Khorfakkan.

According to Chaudhry, the service will allow Pakistani importers and exporters to maintain consistent links with international container shipping routes. The terminal operates under AD Ports Group’s international arm, Noatum Ports.

Cargo routed through Fujairah and Khorfakkan will gain access to wider regional and global shipping networks supported by the UAE’s logistics infrastructure and integrated transport corridors.

The minister said the initiative is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s supply chain and improve trade connectivity. He also appreciated the role of KGTL chief executive Khurram Aziz in facilitating the new service and supporting the development of Pakistan’s maritime trade.
