Mayor Karachi Seeks Japanese Investment in Karachi

KARACHI: Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Akamatsu Shuichi held a meeting with Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab during which both sides discussed bilateral cooperation, investment opportunities, and urban development initiatives. The meeting was also attended by the Consul General of Japan in Karachi along with other senior officials.

According to an official press release during the meeting, Mayor Wahab informed the delegation that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is actively engaging with Japanese companies in the municipal sector. He said efforts are underway to promote tourism in Karachi and improve civic infrastructure.

The mayor extended a formal invitation to Japanese investors to explore opportunities in Karachi, assuring them of full cooperation across all sectors. He particularly emphasized potential collaboration in sewerage systems, biogas energy, and environmentally friendly energy projects.

He further stated that work is ongoing to develop improved infrastructure to facilitate international investment in Karachi, with a commitment to provide all necessary facilities to foreign investors.

Highlighting human resource development, the mayor said that the city administration is also working on sending medical professionals to Japan for training and employment opportunities.

The ambassador extended an invitation to Mayor Murtaza Wahab to visit Japan, signaling further strengthening of bilateral ties between the two sides.
