International Delegations Arrive for CPA Conference
KARACHI: The arrival of international parliamentary delegations continued on Tuesday ahead of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference, scheduled to begin on February 4 in Karachi.
Dr. Christopher Kalila, Chairperson of the CPA Executive Committee and a Member of Parliament from Zambia, arrived at Jinnah International Airport. He was accompanied by CPA Secretary General Mr. Stephen Twigg of the United Kingdom and CPA Communications and Office Administrator Ms. Melanie Denquah from the CPA Headquarters in London.
Member of the Sindh Assembly (MPA) Saima Agha received the delegation at the airport and presented them with bouquets.
The conference is expected to bring together more than 150 parliamentarians, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and parliamentary experts from 17 legislative assemblies across the region.
Held under the theme “Future Parliaments: Rebuilding Democracy through Trust, Inclusion, Innovation, and Peace,” the conference will focus on key issues such as parliamentary education, misinformation and fake news, climate change, parliamentary accountability, gender equality, emerging technologies, and regional cooperation.
