Dheyan Ghar: A Quiet Space for Mindfulness
Karachi: Located on the National Highway about 90 kilometres from Karachi towards Thatta, Dheyan Ghar is a peaceful mindfulness and meditation centre offering a rare opportunity for people to step away from the pressures of daily life. Founded by meditation teacher Dr. Badar Abbasi, the centre has been created as a quiet sanctuary where individuals can reconnect with themselves through silence, awareness and meditation.
Dheyan Ghar regularly hosts one-day and two-day silent mindfulness retreats designed to help participants cultivate calmness, clarity and self-awareness. During these retreats, participants are gently guided through a range of mindfulness practices including sitting meditation (dheyan), mindful walking, deep body relaxation, gentle yoga and stretching. Everyday activities such as eating meals, drinking tea and even helping with simple tasks like cleaning or kitchen work are practiced with full awareness.
The retreats follow a structured schedule so that mindfulness becomes part of every activity, from early morning until night. In the one-day retreat, participants are introduced to the foundations of mindfulness and learn how to observe their breath, body and thoughts with awareness. The two-day retreat offers a deeper experience, allowing participants to stay overnight and follow a complete mindfulness routine that includes early morning meditation, silent practice and evening relaxation sessions.
According to the organisers, mindfulness at Dheyan Ghar is not limited to meditation sessions alone. Participants are encouraged to bring awareness into everyday life — while eating, walking, breathing, speaking or listening.
Many participants report that even a short retreat helps reduce stress, improve emotional balance and restore a sense of inner calm often lost in the rush of modern life.
