Bridging Classroom and Newsroom: Journalists Meet Media Students
JAMSHORO, February 3, 2026: The Department of Media and Communication Studies, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, organized an interactive session for its students on Tuesday, focusing on modern journalism, media ethics, and the evolving role of young journalists in Pakistan.
Renowned senior journalists Mazhar Abbas, Qazi Asif and Sohail Sangi led the session, sharing practical insights into the media industry, professional challenges, and the importance of responsible journalism in today’s rapidly changing digital landscape. 
The session was moderated by Ms. Aisha Jamali, who warmly welcomed the distinguished journalists, faculty members, and students. Chairman of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Nizamani also welcomed the guests, appreciated their visit, and presented them with traditional Sindhi souvenirs (lungi) as a token of respect.
During his address, eminent media expert Mazhar Abbas emphasized the significance of credibility, fact-checking, and balanced reporting, urging students to uphold honesty and integrity throughout their journalistic careers. Renowned media expert Qazi Asif guided students on both academic and practical aspects of media studies, highlighting the importance of research-based reporting and effective communication skills. Senior journalist Sohail Sangi shared valuable insights on media professionalism, career development, and the responsibilities of journalists in society.
The interactive session provided students with an opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and gain real-world guidance directly from experienced media professionals. 
The event was also attended by Dr. Rashid Ali Khuhro, Director of the Center for Rural Development Communication (CRDC), along with faculty members of the department including Dr. Farheen Qasim, Mr. Muhammad Siddique Soomro, Dr. Abdul Razzaque Chhachhar, Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Pahore and Dr. Liaquat Ali Umrani. Senior technical staff members Mr. Zulfiqar Panhwar, Fida Hussain Bhagat, Syed Wajahat Ali Shah, Farid Jamali, Anjum Ara Laghari, and a large number of media students were present at the session.
Following the session, the esteemed journalists visited various sections of the department and appreciated the practical work carried out by students and the available facilities. They suggested that further technological upgrades would enhance the department’s capacity for modern media training.
