SALU Among Universities Flagged for Unauthorized Courses
Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a public notice warning medical professionals and students about several universities offering unauthorized postgraduate (PG) medical and dental programs without mandatory accreditation.
According to the council, a number of institutions are admitting MBBS and BDS doctors to PG degree and diploma programs without obtaining prior approval as required under Sections 25 and 34 of the PMC Act 2022. The PMDC termed such practices a violation of the legal framework governing medical education in Pakistan.
Universities named in the notice
The regulatory body specifically identified the following universities as offering unrecognized postgraduate programs:
Times University
NUR International University
Gomal University
Sohail University
Shah Abdul Latif University
University of Faisalabad
University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir
Hazara University
Kohat University of Science and Technology
Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology
The PMDC has directed all listed institutions to immediately discontinue these unapproved programs and halt any form of advertisement or admissions related to them. The council has also cautioned the students that any qualification obtained from such unauthorized programs will not be recognized or registered by the PMDC. It further warned that enrolling in these programs could leave doctors with degrees that are legally invalid for professional practice or specialization recognition in Pakistan.
