IG reviews traffic system, DIG plans crackdown after Eid
Karachi: A high-level review meeting on traffic management and the performance of the faceless e-ticketing system was held in Karachi under the chairmanship of IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho. The meeting took place at the Central Police Office Karachi and was attended by the Additional IG Karachi and senior officers from various wings of Sindh Police, including Highways Patrol, Security and Emergency Division, Headquarters, Traffic Karachi, T&T, IT, and the Safe City Authority.
According to an official handout during the meeting, DIG Traffic Karachi Syed Pir Muhammad Shah gave a detailed briefing on traffic arrangements during the last ten days of Ramadan and the overall performance of the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS). It was informed that approximately 600,000 e-tickets have been issued since October 27, 2025. Measures are also being implemented to improve the system, enhance public facilitation, and expand services.
According to the DIG Traffic, a crackdown will be launched after Eid against motorcyclists riding without number plates and against 23,000 vehicles that have been blacklisted under the TRACS system.
IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho took serious notice of the recent sudden increase in traffic accidents in the city and directed the DIG Traffic to conduct transparent and comprehensive investigations and submit a report. He emphasized that the report should include the causes of accidents along with effective recommendations for their prevention.
He termed the overall performance of Karachi Traffic Police during Ramadan as satisfactory and instructed officials to present comprehensive proposals for strict action against heavy vehicle drivers and motorcyclists violating traffic laws.
